Finding the Right Kind of Support
You don't need to know which service category fits before you enquire. Children's needs often overlap, and the most useful starting point is usually a conversation about what your child finds difficult, what they enjoy, and what you'd like to change.
The pathways below show the main areas I support — each program is then adapted to your child's abilities, interests, health needs and goals.
Disability & Developmental Support
For children and young people with disability, developmental delay, neurodivergence or complex support needs.
Programs may work towards strength, balance, coordination, gross-motor skills, fitness, confidence, independence and participation in everyday activities. Adapted to your child's communication, sensory needs, interests and current abilities.
Possible goals:
-
improving balance, coordination and body awareness
-
building stamina for school, community and family activities
-
confidence to try unfamiliar movement
-
participation in sport, play or recreation
Movement, Confidence & Participation
For children who avoid activity, find PE difficult, or have lost confidence in what their body can do.
A calm, supportive, non-competitive place to learn movement skills at an achievable pace — the aim is progress, not comparison.
Possible goals:
-
fundamental skills like running
-
jumping and catching
-
confidence for PE and community sport
-
finding movement they genuinely enjoy
-
a more positive relationship with activity.
Health & Chronic Condition Support
For children and young people managing a health condition, with reduced fitness, or needing to become more active safely.
Individually tailored, evidence-based programs focused on fitness, strength, energy and sustainable habits — coordinated with your child's GP or paediatrician where helpful.
Possible goals:
-
building fitness and everyday energy
-
safe, sustainable activity
-
healthy routines that last
-
confidence to stay active.
Emotional Regulation & Mental Health
For children and young people who benefit from movement to regulate, focus, manage stress or feel ready for the day.
Exercise isn't a replacement for psychological care, but it can be one useful part of a broader plan — I build achievable routines that fit your child, often alongside their psychologist, OT or school.
Possible goals:
-
movement before school or therapy
-
noticing what settles or energises
-
confidence where anxiety has reduced activity
-
routines families can use at home.
Rehabilitation & Sports Performance
For children and young people returning to activity after injury, rebuilding after physiotherapy, or chasing a sporting goal.
Structured strength, conditioning and movement practice to bridge the gap between rehab and confident participation — matched to their stage, sport and goals.
Possible goals:
-
rebuilding strength and confidence after injury
-
a safe return to sport or gymnastics
-
movement quality for their activity
-
reducing injury risk.
One Goal Doesn't Require One Standard Program
Two children may be working towards a similar outcome but need very different sessions. I adapt activities to your child's age, health, confidence, communication, sensory needs, interests and current abilities.
A session might use gymnastics equipment, games, strength activities, skill practice, circuits or structured routines. The activity is chosen because it supports the goal and helps your child take part — not simply because it looks like traditional exercise.
Progress may show in clinical measures like strength, balance or fitness. It may also show when a child tries something new, joins an activity they'd previously avoided, or feels more confident in everyday movement.
Exercise Support for Parents and Carers
You give a great deal to your child, and it's easy to put your own health last. I also offer individualised exercise support for parents and carers who want to improve fitness, feel stronger, manage a health condition, reduce stress or return to regular activity.
Programs are designed around your health needs, goals, confidence and schedule. Appointments may be available at the Toowong location or through mobile services.
Funding and Referrals
You can contact me directly — a referral isn't required for private appointments.
I may also work with:
-
Self- and plan-managed NDIS participants (not agency/NDIA-managed)
-
Eligible clients referred under a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (Medicare)
-
Clients claiming Exercise Physiology through eligible private-health extras cover.
Funding, rebates and eligibility vary. I can explain how sessions and fees work, but please confirm your individual eligibility with your GP, plan manager or health fund. Fees are discussed when you get in touch.
Not Sure Which Service Fits?
That's completely fine. Children's needs don't always fit neatly into one category, and you don't need to choose a service before contacting me.
Tell me what your child is finding difficult, what they enjoy, what support is already in place and what you'd like to be different. I'll let you know whether Exercise Physiology may be suitable and what the next step could be.
